Conversations

Sometimes I find it just amazing that Lucas and I have conversations. So much learning in two short years! It feels like it was just yesterday that I was pregnant and he was kicking me in my ribs!

As Lucas gets closer to making the transition into the Toddler 2 room, he grows increasingly bored in Toddler 1. He loves his friends (Miles, LP, Galena) and his teachers (Katy, Heather, Rachel), but boredom equals naughtiness.

Lucas and Miles, the evil duo, tag team the teachers in throwing toys over the wall. Lucas will throw the toys over one half wall while Miles hits the other side of the room. This makes it nearly impossible to catch both of them in the act. An impish glimmer is in both their eyes.

When I picked up Lucas, having witnessed this event multiple times in the day, I had a conversation with him about his escapades. . .
"Lucas, did you throw all those balls over the wall?" (Multiple balls strewn all over the entry way outside of his classroom.)
"Yeaaah. My throw!" (He looks very proud.)
"Are you supposed to throw toys over the wall?"
(He tries to ignore me.)
"Are you supposed to throw those toys over the wall?" (Trying again.)
(Still ignoring.)
"Lucas . . . Are you supposed to throw toys over the wall at school?" (Third time's a charm?)
"Noooooo." (Still has the impish look).
"It makes your teachers so sad when you throw all the toys Lucas!" (I'm using superb voice inflection here.)
"Yeah! My throw!"

Uh oh. We're in trouble! But, all naughtiness aside, how cool is it that we can have a conversation!? Language development is so cool.
